Features
- Exceptional thermal stability - temperatures up to 200 °C have little or no effect on the electrical and mechanical properties of Nomex and useful values are retained at considerably higher temperatures, What's more, these useful properties are maintained for at least 10 years of continuous exposure at 220 °C
- Outstanding mechanical toughness - densified Nomex products are strong and resilient with good resistance to tearing and abrasion, thinner grades are also flexible
- Inherent dielectric strength in densified form, Nomex withstands short-term electrical stresses of 18 kV/mm (457 mil) to 40 kV/mm (1015 mil), depending on product type and thickness, with no need for further treatment with varnishes or resins
- Broad chemical compatibility - Nomex is essentially unaffected by most solvents and is unusually resistant to attacks by acids and alkalis. It is compatible with all classes of varnishes and adhesives, transformer fluids, lubricating oils and refrigerants
- Excellent flame resistance - Nomex products do not melt and, with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) at 220 °C above 20.8 (the critical value for combustion in normal air), they do not support combustion
- 3 at 60 Hz (x 10^-3), 5 at 1 kHz (x 10^-3) dissipation factor
- 1.6 N (machine direction of paper), 2.5 N (cross direction of paper) Elmendorf tear
- 10 N (machine direction of paper), 5 N (cross direction of paper) initial tear strength
- 0.6% (machine direction of paper), 0.7% (cross direction of paper) shrinkage at 240 °C
- 1.2 at 60 Hz and 1.3 at 1 kHz dielectric constant
- 450 V/Mil full wave impulse
- Tensile Strength: 27 N/cm (MD), 14 N/cm (CD)
