Cottrell Paper Company, a family owned and operated business, has been manufacturing high-grade electrical insulating papers at our facility in Rock City Falls, New York since 1926. Cottrell Paper Company is proud of its history of providing high quality products and services to the insulation market and looks forward to continuously improving its operations to remain the leader in the “Rag” electrical insulation paper industry.
Cottrell Paper Company, Inc. has recently expanded its line of products to meet the needs of its customers. All Cottrell papers are available in continuous rolls up to 60" wide, sheets, or coils slit to your specifications from .190 inches and up. Cottrell Paper Company insulation papers are available in thicknesses from .002" to .125".
Cottrell Paper Company Product Families
COPACO
Copaco electrical insulation is 100% new cotton rag based paper which has been produced since our founding in 1926. Copaco is a time tested product which is very durable, with excellent physical test values giving it incredible wear and tear resistance.
COPACO 125
Copaco 125 super stretch insulating paper has been produced for over 40 years as an extensible version of Copaco. The paper is produced in a mechanical process that allows 20% stretch before breakage. This stretch allows it to absorb thermal and mechanical stresses. It also features higher tear values than regular Copaco.
COTTRELL – HT
Cottrell – HT is made from 100% Para-Aramid pulp, which is an organic, industrial man-made fiber. The sheet is made to Cottrell’s high standards and will not burn or melt at temperatures up to 220o Celsius.
KRAFT (PRESSBOARD)
Cottrell Kraft is produced from only 100% virgin fiber low conductivity electrical grade pulp on a cylinder paper machine. A benefit of cylinder Kraft is that it has good tear resistance and the necessary elongation to allow sharp folds without splitting.
KRAFT TU
Cottrell Kraft – TU is produced very similar to our Cottrell Kraft but the paper is thermally upgraded to improve the paper’s longterm thermal aging properties.
CK-125-TU
CK – 125 – TU is being produced as an extensible version of Kraft – TU. The paper is manufactured under our extensible paper process that provides this material with up to 20% elongation. This product is also thermally upgraded. CK -125 – TU competes well with creped kraft papers and is currently available in .002” through .005”.
COTTRELL 928 PRESSPAPER
Cottrell 928 Presspaper is a blend of rag and Kraft fibers which offers an excellent combination of electrical/mechanical strengths.
COTTRELL FIBRE
Cottrell Fibre is produced using the same base rag fibers as our copaco which are then further enhanced to improve ply bond and stiffness with low water absorption characteristics. Cottrell Fibre was developed to provide a domestic source for the applications where fishpaper and vulcanized fibre are clearly specified. This material meets ASTM D-710 and MIL-I-695.
