RFI shielding was needed on the NASA x37 Program.  In this new application, the substrate is a “carbon composite”.  In the past, 3M #1181 tape was used for EMI/RFI shielding, but unfortunately, the #1181 did not adhere very well to the “carbon composite” material.

A U.S. manufacturer of power tools needed a thin wall Kraft paper tube, with enhanced dielectric insulating properties, to serve as double insulation between the lamination stack and router motor housing for both Class I and Class II power tools.  This was needed to comply with the latest version of the U.L. standard for these power tools, U.L. 745-1.
