Problem/Description/Solution
RFI shielding was needed on the NASA x37 Program.  In this new application the substrate is a “carbon composite”.  In the past 3M #1181 tape was used for EMI/RFI shielding, unfortunately the #1181 did not adhere very well to the “carbon composite” material.  A newer line of “extension tape” 3M #1126 (which had a more aggressive adhesive that provides improved adhesion) was suggested.  Samples of 3M #126 1”, 2”, and 3” was tested and evaluated by the company’s engineers.  The 3M #1126 passed all tests and has been approved and certified.

 

Features & Benefits
EIS currently is stocking log rolls for the customer which is being purchased through Fabrico.  This helps us meet the JIT programs that the customer has implemented by reducing shipping time from the 3M factories.  This represents $15,000 annually.
